Doctrine and Covenants 4:1 Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.

Social media can be used to share the gospel and bring forth the 'marvelous work' mentioned in the scriptures.

A few years ago we had a devastating windstorm in our city.  It knocked down many massive trees in the neighborhood.  The next morning our neighborhood Facebook page was flooded with kind people checking around to see who needed help cutting and clearing trees,  checking for damage to homes and cars, and offering trucks and trailers. There was a massive online effort to make sure everyone was OK. It wasn't sponsored by the church, just neighbors looking out for each other in a Christlike way.

Over the last few years since the pandemic,  I have seen missionaries use social media as part of their ministry.  It has been beautiful to watch them share their faith and testimonies through thoughts,  stories,  music, and shared experiences.  I have been uplifted and my testimony has grown as I read and respond to missionary posts.  I especially love it when they share musical talents.

Another great example of sharing the gospel through social media is the Light the World campaign at Christmas. I love seeing people share the gospel and enjoy the uplifting posts that pop up during that time.  I have participated in Light the World and felt the spirit as I also shared the gospel with others.

These opportunities add positive energy to social media and become invitations to those people who are not members of our church.  Each small interaction can have a snowball effect on someone else's life.  We may never know the impact we have as we share the gospel in this way.

More frequently, Latter-day Saint missionaries are turning to social media to find potential converts.
